Ford Galaxy Rear Fo0g Lights Inoperative

Hi Guys

Can anyone help. My 1997 Galaxy has failed its MOT on rear fog lights not working. I have tried the bulbs, no luck, the fuses seem ok so I am thinking the relay. Any ideas? Thanks folks.

Check the wiring to the tailgate. Check inside the rubber boot between the vehicle and the tailgate, wiring cracks, breaks and short circuits. Known problem.

my galaxy failed mot 3 years ago on the same problem an auto electrician mate of mine had to run a wire from the back of the switch to the wiring by the back light it was just a temp job to get an mot but as this worked i have left it like that.

check the rubber boot that joins the body to the tail gate in the upper right corner of boot opening and i expect you will find the wires have broken which feed the fog lights , very common fault had to solder mine a while back and many other of my fords before :)

Thanks fellas, have located the fault, wires from body to tailgate broke and have been bodged in the past. Have had to take it to a garage unfortunately as I am at work all week and it needs retesting by Friday, again thanks for the advice.
